Frequently asked questions

What size portable air conditioner do I need?

As a rule of thumb, a small bedroom (up to ~15 m²) needs around 7,000–9,000 BTU, a large bedroom or small living room ~9,000–12,000 BTU, and a large open living space 12,000–14,000+ BTU. AirconWatch only tracks proper refrigerant portable air conditioners of 5,000 BTU and above - no evaporative coolers or fans. See the full portable air conditioner size guide.

How do I get restock alerts?

Follow the free Telegram channel @AirconWatchUK for instant restock alerts with no signup, or subscribe to the RSS feed. Email alerts are also available when the mailing list is open.

Do you track price changes?

Yes. When demand spikes in a heatwave, some retailers take advantage and quietly push prices up - so every time we check stock (every 15 minutes) we also record each in-stock unit's price, and the dashboard shows exactly who moved and by how much over the last 24 hours and 7 days. A unit that jumps in price gets a clear rise badge, and meaningful price drops are posted free to our Telegram channel. We can only see prices while a retailer lists a unit, and we track products, never people.
